Sofia Ågren

Sofia Ågren was trained as choral and orchestral conductor at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, Sweden and went on to complete a Master of Education, majoring in choir conducting and classical singing. As a part of her studies, Ågren has worked with professional ensemble singers and groups such as the Swedish Radio Choir, the Eric Ericson Chamber Choir and the Chamber Choir of The Royal College of Music.

In addition to being the artistic director of Uppsala Vokalensemble, she is a conductor and music teacher at Kungsholmen’s Gymnasium/Stockholm’s Music Gymnasium. Ågren has previously worked with the music classes at Adolf Fredrik’s Music School in Stockholm, and was director of the Royal Opera’s children’s choir as well as the internationally renowned Adolf Fredrik’s Girls’ Choir. She is also a project manager for the Chamber Choir of Scandinavia and one of the founders of the national project Levande körmusik (“Living Choral Music”), a platform for contemporary choral music, composers and choral conductors. This project is a joint effort between the Swedish Society of Composers, Svensk Musik and the STIM Promotional Society.
