A collection of love poetry dating back over 2,000 years. The majestic choir piece composed by the Frenchman Daniel-Lesur in the 1950`s, based on these sensuous poems, is the departure point for this CD. The Song of Songs is joined by additional choral music in French. The Mikaeli Chamber Choir, under the direction of Anders Eby, is presently one of the most prominent choirs in Sweden. The choir is active in many contexts both in Sweden and abroad.” How great the pain to live here on earth – but worse still is to die” Charles d`Orléans once wrote. But love prevails. Art prevails, in spite of its ephemeral nature. The song prevails. The song above all others. The song of songs.

Recorded in Studio 2, Sveriges Radio, Stockholm, on August 23, December 20, 2003, and January 31, 2004
