Josefina Paulson

The keyed fiddle known as nyckelharpa, entered Josefina’s life in 1992 and she has gone on to pursue the traditions from the region of her birth, the richly historical province of Västmanland. In 2008, she was awarded the badge of mastery for Swedish folk musicians, called riksspelman (literally “player of the realm”) and in 2011, she was the recipient of the Bror Hjorth Society Folk Music Grant, with the following motivation: “Technically brilliant, a heartfelt approach to the nyckelharpa with an eye to preserving cultural traditions while adding a fresh and personal touch”.
Josefina holds a BA in music, majoring in nyckelharpa, from Stockholm’s Royal College of Music and works as a musician worldwide. In 2016, Josefina won the World Nyckelharpa Championship.
