Rosa Mystica

This is music for the soul. Rosa Mystica is a collection of songs with a meditative character – sincere and restful music. The repertoire is mainly contemporary, primarily from Scandinavia. But here is also a baroque piece by Henry Purcell and a couple of romantic songs by Joseph Rheinberger and Charles V Stanford. Eric Whitacre and John Tavener are also represented.

The Maria Magdalena Chamber Choir belongs to the Maria Magdalena Church in Stockholm. The choir contributes to the church services but is also an autonomous concert choir, both a cappella and in larger productions together with some of Sweden’s most prominent orchestral musicians and vocal soloists.

Mats Nilsson is the musical director of the Maria Magdalena Camber Choir since 2009. He is one of the most celebrated and esteemed choral conductors in Sweden and was elected Choir Leader of the Year in 2014. Mats Nilsson is frequently engaged in international musical events and conducted the Sydney Philharmonia Choirs during the years 1998 to 2003. Besides his position at the Maria Magdalena Church, he is also a professor in choral conducting at the RoyalCollege of Music in Stockholm
